49 Days of Gratitude

Y’all! There’s a reason gratefulness was such a buzzword last year. The more we remember to be thankful, the more we see how far we’ve come. I know I’m particularly grateful for working with such amazing people from all over the Charlotte region last year. But not only does it show us how far we’ve come, it also inspires us to give back!

One of the most beautiful things about the 49 Days of Gratitude (that we posted about last week) is how community organizations all across Rowan County have pitched in to make the 49 Days of Gratitude parade and months-long celebration happen. They’ve really jumped on this gratitude train.

We love watching local businesses, activists and individuals, such as the Kiwanis Club of Salisbury, the Center for Faith & Arts, Temple Israel, Catawba College, and so many others, come together to put on such a wonderful event.

And all throughout March, they’ll keep working together. With their teamwork and contributions, they’re putting on phenomenal events like wine tastings, a pancake festival, an art gala, fundraisers, yoga classes, history programs, and more.  Just CLICK HERE to see a full listing of everything going on!

Plus, Rowan County is using the Merci Train exhibit to battle local hunger! Bring at least two non-perishable food items per exhibit ticket to get $1 off your Merci Train exhibit admission.

Other fun things to do in Salisbury and Spencer

To make a whole day of it, you can also visit some of these fun, family-friendly places near Salisbury:

The African American Heritage Trail – You’re already enjoying great North Carolina history, so keep up the learning! You can wrap up African American History Month by visiting their annual African American Exhibit.

Eagle Point Nature Preserve – Okay, there’s a chance of rain this weekend, but with how warm it is (and it’s only February!), you might as well go for a stroll. Take a walk and enjoy budding trees with more than 3 miles of walking trails —  kids can learn how to identify North Carolina plants and trees on the Plant Loop Trail!

North Carolina Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures – Don’t miss the Barbie tribute celebrating 60 years of Barbie. The Barbie exhibit lasts until March 9, but this museum will interest more than little girls or Barbie collectors — they have trains and all sorts of toys on display!
