If you are looking for a unique experience that brings you up close and personal with wild animals, then you need to look no further than Mooresville, NC. In this town that is most famous for its NASCAR racing teams, you will find a privately owned ranch that is the home to approximately 750 animals from 6 continents. Lazy 5 Ranch is open to the public and folks have the option of riding through the 3.5 mile tour in the their own vehicle or paying for a ride in an open-air wagon. If you have never seen a giraffe’s purple tongue, or an Ostrich eyeball staring at you, then we definitely recommend making a reservation for a ride in the wagon.
Lazy 5 Ranch was started in 1993 by Mr. Harold Hampton, a man who has always loved exotic animals. Mr. Hampton recognized the potential of having a wild animal facility and he began using it as a means to be able to teach children about the animals and their environment(s). He also began using Lazy 5 Ranch as a place where endangered animals can find refuge and (hopefully) multiply.
Just a few of the animals you will see while visiting the ranch are various types of cattle, horses, sheep, goats, deer, elk, giraffes, rhinos, pigs, llamas, camels, kangaroos and many more.
Always a popular field trip location, Lazy 5 Ranch is also available to host birthday parties, weddings, and corporate events. What a great location for your next party!
