USA CRITS Speed Week is a series of five races over seven days across two Southern states – Georgia and South Carolina. The races start with the Athens Orthopedic Clinic Twilight Criterium race in Athens, GA and end with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Criterium in Spartanburg, SC. Speed Week places the spotlight on the best criterium racers in the world, allowing them to compete through the downtown areas of five cities, thereby showcasing their skills and their sport to the spectators that flock to see them.
Criterium racing has a rich history dating back to the 1920s. Conducting cycling races of this nature allows the American public to get up close and personal with national, international, and olympic champions. Hitting an average speed of around 44 mph, these elite athletes bring a lot of excitement to the urban areas of the following cities in a short, quick week!
