North Charlotte, a.k.a. North Davidson, or more affectionately “NoDa” is one of the coolest and most popular neighborhoods in all of Charlotte. This artsy neighborhood was one of the earliest mill villages in the Queen City, with the first mill being finished in 1903. For many years it thrived and produced jobs for thousands. Then, in 1975, the last mill closed and the area quickly fell into ruin. Luckily, about 15 years later, the NODa area experienced a “rebirth” – textile factories were renovated, homes that once belonged to mill workers were renovated. Home ownership soared and businesses began to bring people into the area and community pride became infectious. Presently, NoDa is now a hustling, bustling, eclectic area with unique gift shops, galleries, live theatre, music venues, hip restaurants and even a extremely popular local brewery.
To experience this amazing area up close, attend a “NoDa Crawl”. Held the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month, the NoDa Crawl allows you to walk and visit 33 different establishments! This is definitely one area of Charlotte that you do not want to miss!
