Listen to Tim’s answer
Great point and reminder, Tim. The Superintendent works for the Board and for the parents/teachers/students and community of the county.
Cab Co is blessed to have Dr. Lowder as Superintendent. He cares about our students, families and teachers and staff.
We love Dr. Lowder
Moderator?
Kathryn Koontz right? Come on Leigh
Yes, moderators should be unbiased
Leigh, your opinion is showing all over the place. Wow.
Yeah, really. She is ruining this at times.
Quite the agenda from the moderator here…
Right!
DONE with this moderator….she seems to hate all this CabCo
Moderator seems to have an agenda against Lowder
Tripp Moore it doesn’t seem that’s the job of a moderator though
Tripp Moore lol that makes sense. I’m just here to listen and learn about the candidates and how they think and communicate their priorities.
Tripp Moore I guess there is a just a time and a place… agree to disagree the place is here. It’s ok
Tripp Moore I’m truly open to all. I would be open to learning more about Ms Moore
Connie Mueller Rheinecker There is a video about her on the Cabarrus Apple Cart social media page.
#teamlowder
Thank you, David! As a parent of a child in Cabarrus County, Dr. Lowder has been extremely efficient if there has been an issue. And this conversation is a prime example of why some of our leaders are not role models. To bash our superintendent on a public call???? Classless!
Leigh needs to not come on so condescending. Ask the questions without your personal opinion and don’t cut people off when they’re answering.
don’t think so There are people who have had issues and he didn’t respond. This board except for a couple follow him.
Looks like Leigh Brown may be using this platform for her own personal agenda. Not good!
I agree. She should be neutral.
a moderator should be impartial in order for us to really hear the candidates. That’s not what’s happening here.
If you’re trying to keep your opinions out of the conversation as a moderator, you need to try a lot harder
As a CCS teacher I back Chris Lowder
YES! As a CCS Teacher Assistant I support Dr. Lowder!
Me too! He is looking at all the moving parts and what is best for the students and staff, not for a political party.
Dr. Lowder has done a great job in many tough situations. We are so blessed to have him in our community. This moderator is definitely biased, I hope the next forum is more professional.
Cindy, thank you for thoughtfully and thoroughly answering questions!
Dr. Lowder is a true leader, respected by parents, students, and teachers across the community.
Leigh is doing a great job! Wonderful to hear each candidate’s thoughts.
Listen to board; get off moderator; had our say…
Yes Denise!!
Second time Keshia has not been acknowledged.
Tripp Moore – if Cat Moore has the same feelings towards Dr. Lowder then I don’t think she’s what our county needs…
I know some teachers and they don’t feel the same toward Lowder. I am not impressed.
Tim, experience; listens.
This has been an informative session and I appreciate everyone’s efforts in making it available.
And the owner of the restaurant is the son of a former CCS teacher
Very true
I believe Cabarrus Cty schools needs to have board members that are more representative to our diverse community. The two African American women are highly qualified, have tons of experience and seem like they’re passionate about helping our schools.
Keshia I like your ideas
currently there is federal leave for covid COVID for teachers
My view: everytime a school is built, 3 neighborhood spring up around them. How should the county deal with that?
YES KESHIA!
Thank you for being informed on that Cindy!
I truly appreciate Keshia’s answer and Cindy’s knowledge on this question.
Harris, smart, knows the ropes…teachers definitely pd. if out due to Covid…
Right, Tim.
The CCS board and CCS have provided free food for children 0-18 despite income from March to Dec 2020 with the help of the federal govt
David is very experienced and definitely understands that having passion is only part of the job. Knowing how to handle budget and other complex issues is important.
No thank you I don’t want free lunch
Yes Tim Furr….from a teacher who is our cafeteria’s number 1 customer!
Sources for this being “bad history”?
That’s their opinion, but I would encourage you to do your own research on it.
Talitha McGuinness I think 1619 Project is VERY soundly researched. I am wondering if the opinions of these current board members is informed by research (or rhetoric). Totally with you on needing to research for oneself and ones own growth & learning.
As a teacher that isn’t important to me
To Tripp moore
David Harrison is correct DPI controls a lot in education.
Parents can be the voice also to Raleigh.
Want to hear the answer from everyone else.
As about teaching critical race theory.
Relationships are everything. Denise gets it.
I don’t think we get to choose what we’re “comfortable” teaching. We should be held to teaching truth.
Yes!!!!
Right, Fred!
So what do the others think about 1619 project? Never heard the answer except for three people.
I think they all said to keep it out. NeQueela agreed our history and how it’s taught needs to change, but it’s something that needs to be looked at very closely with regard to what is taught.
Some states have taken away school resource officers. What are the candidates opinion on this?
How do you or would you personally build relationships with state officials in the place of making these decisions.
Indoctrination is taking place in these high schools by some of these teachers teaching history. Needs to stop.
Teachers are teaching the curriculum that they are given. If you don’t agree with that, you have to take it up with DPI.
Megan H. MB took it up with the teacher.
Define and offer examples of “indoctrination”? That term has been thrown around a lot…but never defined
MichaelandLindsey Landers Teacher expressing her own personal political views about present and former presidents, without allowing the students to openly discuss theirs. Holocaust and Genocide class.
Linda Turner Thank you. That sounds like more of a teacher problem rather than systemic indoctrination. Public school teachers are not allowed to share their personal political beliefs or religious beliefs in the classroom. We had a teacher about a decade ago told to take down some of his Republican candidate posters…or, to post more candidates from other parties to balance it out. On the same note, teachers should not have a Biblical quote on their walls or openly share specific church experiences among students. When individual teachers slip up and do these things, they don’t necessarily get into big trouble the first time, but they do get asked to tone it down…then it may become a personnel issue if it persists, or if it’s egregious.
MichaelandLindsey Landers It was a great class and she was a very good teacher for the course content.
Yes Ali Griggs
History pedagogies have historically ignored marginalized people…that needs to change…and I wish someone addressed this
Denise and Preach have good points.
How about we mute Leigh
Tim Furr, for the people…schools; listens, acts.
Congratulations to all; good job, board candidates…
Thank you NeQueala
And all the candidates!
Thank you Keisha
Thank you Cindy
Thank you David
Thank you for letting us get to know the candidates!
Leigh is definitely representing the “damn the health consequences” camp.
The first question about Plan A and masks told me right away who I won’t vote for.
Cannot hear Keisha , tech prob?
Tim, good!
Right, Cindy
