Welcome back friends to My Kitchen! My Rules! I’m a big fan of quick and easy recipes, especially those using ingredients you likely already have on-hand your pantry. My #skillet cornbread is no exception! All you need is a few minutes to make the batter, and 20 minutes or so to bake and SHAZAM. #Cornbread from scratch, that everybody can do!

I love your videos! Watching from New Orleans. Where’s your drink? I can’t cook without my glass of wine! You’re just something else.
I am with you NO SUGAR IN CORNBREAD!!
Amen!! NO SUGER!
Also no sugar in potato salad! NO!
I like to add mayo instead of oil. That’s what my granddaddy taught me.
White lily is too expensive and too we have to buy from Walmart.com down here in Deep East Texas. No one carries it here so I have to eat the stuff we don’t know where it comes from. A bummer
LOVE Vivian Howard (I’m in San Diego, but definitely a Southern girl ).
You can “refinish” old cast iron by removing the rust and place upside down on the cleaning mode of a self cleaning oven. Just leave it there until it’s cool. All the black will come off and it will be bare iron. Then, lovingly reseason it. Seasoning is a day long process but what a joy to have a brand new 110 year old cast iron skillet that is slicker than a baby’s butt.
Amen NO sugar in cornbread
I put a little bit of dry cornmeal mix in the bottom of my hot skillet, just a couple sprinkles , my momma said it was her secret
Amen! No sugar!!
Agree! Sugar does not belong in cornbread! When at restaurants… Always ask if cornbread is a choice… Is it sweet! If so! A. NO. In choosing!
I agree sugar doesn’t belong in cornbread!! My mother made cornbread almost every day of her life, it was always delicious. She had to make it from scratch, I don’t think they had cornmeal mix then.
Once again, you’re cooking just like me! I’m Southern as cornbread! No sugar in mine! I never put my frying pan in soap and water either! My cornbread is soooo good it will make you slap your pappy down! LOL! That’s a Southern saying!
