Located on historic Elizabeth Ave, Customshop Handcrafted Food is a modern Roman trattoria with a neighborhood feel. Conceived and built by owner/executive chef, Trey Wilson, Customshop opened its doors in 2007. Customshop’s vision is designed around infusing local, farm-fresh foods with advanced cooking techniques to create new and exciting dishes.
The menu is an eclectic mix of traditional and innovative American dishes inspired by Italian, French, and Spanish cuisine. It changes weekly based on seasonal availability of local farm produce and local fisherman Rock Stone’s weekly catch. All pasta is made in-house and includes favorites such as ricotta gnocchi, squid ink linguini, and spaghetti alla chitarra. Customshop is also known for its charcuterie bar.
In addition to their ever-changing menu, Customshop has a highly selective wine list that is composed of a diverse array of high-quality wines from renowned wine regions such as Spain, Italy, Chile, France and California. Wines are available by the bottle or in 6 oz portions to pair with each course. Customshop also has a small, selective cocktail menu that is just begging to be tried.
Customshop’s decor is rustic, yet classy. A blend of old meets new, which while may seem overdone in restaurant’s today, is done just right here. Contemporary dark wooden tables and wrought iron fixtures contrast with walls of exposed brick from the building’s 110 year old original structure. A highlight of the restaurant’s design includes the antique fly-wheel slicer at the charcuterie bar, where starters and crudo are crafted. Illuminated by the 85+ candles that line the tables and walls, Customshop’s warm atmosphere invites guests to enjoy a comfortable, well-crafted meal.
