Built in 1996, the stadium was originally called Carolinas Stadium. This 74,455 seat venue was constructed to house a football team as well as be a college bowl game site, plus host concerts, soccer events and more. After a few years the stadium was named Ericcson Stadium after a Swedish telecom company that held the naming rights. It was not until Bank of America acquired the naming rights (2004) that it became the stadium that is known today as the Bank of America Stadium or, more affectionately as, “The Vault”.
The location of the Bank of America Stadium is one of its biggest advantages. Sitting right in the heart of the Queen City, views of the Charlotte skyline are abundant from almost every seat within the bowl of the stadium. This gorgeous view, whether attending a day game or a night game, just adds to the vibrant atmosphere of the stadium and the thrill of attending a game or event.
Coming off of an extensive technology renovation during the summer of 2014, the Bank of America Stadium has plenty to offer to the fans of the Carolina Panthers. The 2014 renovation included the addition of four club level elevators, plus state-of-the-art HD video screens in both end zones, and a high-octave sound system. The 360-degree sound system features 479 loudspeakers and 30 speaker poles that extend above the rim of the stadium.
Additional facts about the stadium:
– The stadium is an open air venue that sits on 33 acres of land

– It is the headquarters of the Carolina Panthers and houses its administrative offices, 3 practice fields and training facilities
– The stadium boasts 158 luxury suites, located on two levels. The suites range from 10-person suites to 40-person suites.
