As the Christmas season decends upon us, no list of the Best of Charlotte would be complete without ChristmasVille in Rock Hill, SC. ChristmasVille is an award winning 4 day festival with over 70 events including horse drawn carriage rides, historic tours, strolling Dickens carolers, art, theater, dance, music, a gingerbread house contest, multiple Santa activities, an ice skating rink, and 20 tons of real snow!
The 8th annual ChristmasVille will take place December 5 – December 8, 2013 in Historic Downtown (Old Town) Rock Hill, SC. Hours vary each day with the different events and entry to ChristmasVille is free, though some of the events do have a nominal cost. You can learn more about all the events on ChristmasVille’s website: ChristmasVille in Rock Hill. The opening ceremonies are on Thursday evening and the Grand Finale is on Sunday evening.
The festival was founded in 2005 to celebrate the Christmas season while showcasing artwork by Vernon Grant, Rock Hill native and creator of the Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies Snap!® Crackle!® Pop!® characters. During the festival, Downtown Rock Hill is transformed into a storybook winter village with Dickens Era carolers and more. This is an event that you definitely don’t want to miss – it was voted South Carolina Event of the Year for the third year in a row!
