Marie is a Buyer’s Specialist and Designated Concierge with our team. She moved to the states from Sweden back in 2011 and has been exploring Charlotte every since! With her unique background (get this – she speaks English, Swedish, AND French!), she has a very unique perspective on all things Charlotte. Marie currently resides in Waxhaw with her husband, two teenage boys, and her cats. With all the exploring Marie has done over the past 6 years, one of her favorite hot spots is PNC Music Pavilion.  When we asked Marie what she loved about the PNC Music Pavilion, she said, “They have something for everyone – live music, a beautiful view, and great family fun… you can’t beat it!”

The PNC Music Pavilion, located in an area known as the “University Area” of Charlotte, first opened it’s doors on July 4, 1991, and has been formerly known as both the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater and the Blockbuster Pavilion. This stunning outdoor music venue holds 18,768 people and hosts an array of music festivals and concerts in several different genres – Lynyrd Skynyrd & Bad Company, The Allman Brothers, Jason Aldean, Elton John, Lil Wayne, Dave Matthews Band, Janet Jackson, and many more!

The venue features unique amphitheater style seating; with a combination of covered and uncovered seating, and also both assigned seats and general admission. The assigned seating sections usually range in ticket price from $75 – $300 (stage front). While the large lawn area is first come/first serve, and allows for more casual concert viewing – most people bring a blanket or lawn chair, and these tickets usually start around $40.  Children under 2 are free.

Did you know that amphitheaters date back to the Greek and Roman times, when “natural” amphitheaters were discovered to have amazing, “unexplained” sound quality? Of course, we now know that the “amphitheater” design and limestone seats (typical material found in natural amphitheaters) combine to create a unique, and unparalleled entertainment venue – which is why we still use it today!

PNC Music Pavilion is conveniently located near the highway and has plenty of FREE parking, seriously who doesn’t love free parking?! Inside the amphitheater, there are several different food and beverage options (yes, including alcohol). Looking for another option? You can bring your own! Each ticketed guest is allowed to bring in: (1) one-gallon clear plastic bag of food and (1) SEALED bottle of water.

If you’ve lived in Charlotte for any length of time – you too, have likely spent a gorgeous summer night underneath the sparkling Carolina sky, rocking out to your favorite song at the PNC Music Pavilion! If you haven’t, be sure to put it on to summer to-do list – you won’t regret it!
