This year, the team at MacDonald Hardwoods spoke to over 200 interior designers across the United States about what they are currently recommending to customers, what their customers are requesting from these designers, and what trends are being seen in flooring and design.

When compiling the results, MacDonald Hardwoods was a little surprised when they found:
– Only 44% of the surveyed interior designers said they use mostly solid hardwood flooring, when flooring is a part of a home redesign, instead of engineered hardwood.
– This number is down from 67% in our 2015 hardwood flooring customer preference survey.
– They also found that 76% of these same interior designers said they would recommend solid hardwood flooring for homes with pets.
– That’s compared to 23% that said they would choose engineered flooring.
– And last year, 78% of surveyed interior designers said they prefer to use hardwood flooring throughout the home, instead a few accent rooms.
– This year, that number went down to 63%.
