As a hard working Broker/Realtor with the Leigh Brown & Associates team, Denise Pagano enjoys spending her downtime with her husband, their two sons, and her sweet dog Lacy. Denise is also very involved in the community, volunteering a lot of her free time to several great organizations in the area. With how busy she stays all of the time, it’s no surprise that Denise is a lover of the outdoors to decompress. It’s also no surprise that one of her favorite spots to visit in Charlotte is Freedom Park. She exclaimed, “It’s just so beautiful and peaceful… give me a good book and an afternoon in the park and I’m in heaven!”

Freedom Park, commonly referred to as the “Central Park” of Charlotte, features a 7-acre lake and spans a whopping 98-acres! It is beautifully situated between Charlotte’s historic Dilworth and Myers Park neighborhoods, just 3 miles from the heart of Uptown.

The park features an array of family-friendly activities, including: tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields, batting cages, 2 playgrounds, NFL Play60 KidZone, multiple walking trails, concession stand, and 5 reservable outdoor shelters.

Freedom Park is also home to a “Demonstration Garden” which combines healthy outdoor play with education. The garden is full of native flowers and plants of the Piedmont region, all varying in planting strategies and sun/shade exposure. As you explore the gardens, you’ll see tags to identify plant names and growing information – making your sunny afternoon stroll, a fun and educational one.

Although the park is beautiful when blanketed in a layer of freshly fallen snow, there is nothing quite like Freedom Park in the Summer – it is hoppin’! Probably one of the things most cherished here is the Summer Jazz Series and Movies in the Park that is held every summer. For their Summer Jazz series, local musicians come and play smooth beautiful songs with a gorgeous Carolina night sky backdrop – for FREE! They also play family-friendly movies on the big screen… who needs a movie theatre when you can have the night sky in the background? No movie ticket required!

This weekend, instead of sitting cooped up inside – why not take a drive to Freedom Park for some good family fun, exercise, and fresh air. Whether you want to curl up on a park bench with a good book, or play a competitive game of baseball with friends – Freedom Park has something for everyone!
